My quest is still on. I feel like I am a warrior princess fighting a whole lot of demons and dragons, to find the one truth, the happy ending…
I moved here in 2001. Due to the reprehensible medical system here, my daughter’s 5th ear infection and 5th course of antibiotics sent me a one of my first quests. An easy one, because I stumbled upon my now homeopath – in a book store. She was a year old then, and I am pleased to say, has never had an ear infection since. I have become well versed in homeopathy over the years, and 3 more kids, later, I am pleased to say we very rarely visit the doctor. (But I do go when the need arises, like 3 days ago. My pediatrician sent me home with a prescription in case my daughter may need it. Turns out, my daughter had cellutlitis and i had to take her to emergency! Refer to my previous blogs for more info).
Anyway – I feel Homeopathy is fantastic in acute cases, ie, diarrhea, vomiting, headache, bruises, bleeding, stings, poison Ivy – many things. However with chronic stuff, I have not had much success. Case in point, my little delicate flower, child number 2, Sassy.
She has been a snotty child for ,many years now, ear infections every 6 months or so, and sleeps with her mouth open. ( However, if I close her mouth, I realise that she is actually breathing through her nose. )
Of course the ENT and pediatrician want to give her the routine grommets, adenoids and tonsilectomy operation. I know a bazillion kids have had it and it is ok. My issue is that our bodies were designed to function. Why can her ears not drain the excess fluid? My dear friend, a doctor, tells me it is because of her facial structure. Ok I get it, but what did they do way back in Byzantine era? ( I know – irrelevant.)
Obviously, I don’t want my child to suffer. I will book the operation, but in the meantime, I am trying my damnedest to find some alternatives.
Today I went to find The Chinese Hospital. I drove to the other side of town, and finally found it. I saw a building with very big red doors, and very proudly figured out that that was it! I parked, and crossed the road. As I got closer, it looked very deserted. I tried the door – locked. I then saw a guy standing there and asked him if they were closed. He replied and told me that I was a little late as they closed about 11 yrs ago!
Great, but as a great person once said ” Seek and ye shall find” ( Actually I think that might have been G-d?) – I struck gold. On my return I stumbled upon a clinic that specializes in osteopathy, homeopathy, acupuncture and whole lot of other stuff. So I booked Osteo for my daughter, and Acupuncture for me.
If any of you moms out there have gone the alternate route with you kids, or have had the operation, or have opted out, I would love to hear from you.
